Please submit ALL manuscripts as follows:

  Sweetgrass Press and Sweetgrass Fiction encourages established as well as new and unpublished authors to submit their work.

  Submit ONLY the first 3 chapters, along with an outline of the entire work (or overview, plot points and ending in the case of fiction).  Please do not send the full manuscript unless we ask for it.  Unsolicited whole manuscripts are put at the bottom of our "slush" pile and reviewed only AFTER all other proper submissions are reviewed.

  Submissions should be typed (or computer printed) on clean paper, with dark print.  No handwritten manuscripts will be read.   If a submission is provided as a photocopy, it should be clean and clear with a white background.   NEVER send your original.

  Double space your text and allow for a 1 inch to 1 1/4 inch margin all around.

  Your font should be easy to read, such as Times New Roman or Arial.  Please avoid script and fancy fonts that are hard on the eyes.   Font size should be 11 or 12 point.

  Please include a brief biography of yourself.  Include why you wrote about what you wrote about. Be sure to include any credits you may have in your chosen field.

  Allow at least three months for a reply.  Though we will do our best to get to all manuscripts in a timely manner, the number of submissions we receive can cause a delay.

   Make sure to send a self addressed stamped envelope so we can notify you when we have reviewed your manuscript.  If you want your material returned, be sure the envelope and postage are sufficient for this purpose.  The postal service will not deliver mail without proper postage.

  Remember, Sweetgrass Press and Sweetgrass Fiction do not accept racist, pornographic or violence based manuscripts.

  Our best suggestion for writers:  Write about what you know and love.

  We are open to new and unpublished authors, but prefer new authors have a complete manuscript available at time of submission.  We do not promise publication to new authors based on partial work, nor do we pay advances under any circumstances.
